“Three Visions From Kazuo”

This piece will explore improvisation inspired by three randomly selected quotes from Kazuo Ohno’s teaching.  My approach to butoh is to embody ideas and try to reveal enough, without revealing too much.

Bob Lyness is currently based in Cambridge in the UK, and has been studying and performing butoh for the past 20 years. He has studied with Yoshito Ohno, Diego Pinon, Joan Laage, Maureen Fleming, Lori Ohtani, Natsu Nakajima, Atsushi Takenouchi, Vangeline, and now so many others. Each teacher has had a unique and vital seed to share, with so many more yet to learn.  Bob comes from a theater background, but somehow his passion found butoh. Bob studies and teaches with the Café Reason Butoh Theater group in Oxford.
